Hawaii Five 0 & F18 Hornets-unusual week

This last week I had the opportunity to photograph a Change of Command Ceremony at the Lemoore Naval Air Station. I was above the 3 F-18 Hornets as the performed a 450kt flyover. It was an honor to have been invited to this and being able to meet all these incredible pilots. Later in the week I was hired to shoot aerials of banners being towed over the beach. Unlike the 450kt F-18's, these airplanes were flying at 40mph. Being able to photograph the fastest and the slowest in one week was pretty special and a lot of fun.

Water Ski Lakes and Estates

Just south of the City of Bakersfield there are communities built with private water ski lakes. Estates on these lakes all have boats with access to the slalom courses and jumps. If you look between the first two lakes you will see a runway. To be able to fly in next to your house on your own lake has got to be pretty incredible.

Petco Park - Home of the San Diego Padres baseball team

Petco Park is home to the San Diego Padres baseball team. This stadium was built in 2004 and is located in the center of the city with views of Balboa Park, San Diego Bay, and the city skyline. The San Diego Padres with the help of their fans have initiated recycling and energy reductions and have turned Petco Park into a green stadium

National Swim Championship

The ConocoPhillips National Swim Championship was held at the Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine this week. Top swimmers throughout the country, including Michael Phelps were there. The winners will move on to the Pan Pacific International Championship also being held at this swim stadium. Pan Pacific is one of three big international swim meets. The others being the Olympics & the World Championship.

2010 X Games

The X Games are being held this weekend in Los Angeles. ESPN puts this extreme action sports competition on every year. There are four venues, the Memorial Coliseum, Staples Center, the Nokia Theatre, and LA Live. Athletes from all over the world compete with skateboards, motorcross, bicycles. Here are two of the venues, the Coliseum and LA Live.

2010 Baseball All-Star Game

This year the MLB All-Star game was played at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. The weather cleared up for a warm evening game. This is the third time the game has been played at Angel Stadium. The National League Team won for the first time in 14 years. Here is a picture of the game.

4th of July at the San Diego County Fair

Every year the San Diego County Fair is held at the Del Mar Race Track. It is a huge fair that last for three weeks. This is the second year that I have photographed the fair and just like last year, weather was an issue. It finally cleared and I was amazed to see the amount of people that showed up to enjoy it. What a great way to spend the forth of July.

Surfers Memorial

In the surfing community, the celebration of a surfers life takes place in the ocean. The surfers form a circle hold hands, talk, and throw flowers in the water. This took place recently in Malibu, right next to the Malibu pier. It was early morning, an overcast sky with a good swell. A special memorial for a local surfer.
