Just outside of Las Vegas, NV, I came across some of the brightest, most vibrant colors I've seen in the desert. The reds and oranges were amazingly bright. No wonder the area is called Valley of Fire State Park. It really does look like fire from the air!! I can only imagine what it would look like at sunset!
The state park is only above 50 miles outside of Las Vegas and there were definitely some camping areas.
