Surf City USA
Every July the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing happens in Huntington Beach, California. I just happened to be flying over the festivities and took a few pictures to share. It hosts over 300 world-class athletes for a 9-day celebration of surfing and surf culture. Top surfers from around the world compete in the water next to the pier while the skateboard and BMX athletes compete in the Van Doren International areas on the beach. Some people come for the surfing, some come for the skateboarding and BMX competitions, and some just come to lay out of the beach.
