Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii

Posted on October 3, 2010

Yesterday I flew around the Island of Oahu. From Honolulu Airport we went east over Waikiki past Diamond Head and up the east side to the north shore. We flew over all the big wave surf spots: Sunset, Waimea, Pipeline. No surf but they are beautiful beaches. The road ends on the northwest corner, so the only way to see the west side is by air. We finished up by flying over the Dole Pineapple Factory and Pearl Harbor. Here is a picture looking over the Diamond Head Crater at Waikiki. What is interesting are the bunkers that are visible in the foreground. These were used for protection during World War 2.
